Wrong Number Bro

Today I am guest posting over at Bonnie's blog. Last time I did this I shared this post about my awesome Tinder date. This time around I thought this would be fun because Bonnie teaches high school and she can appreciate a good story about a high schooler. It's been a few years since I myself was in high school but it seems to me that they're only getting wittier and raising more commotion. Hence the following situation. My cousin (who goes to East High here in Salt Lake) was the one who showed this to me. One of his friends got a text from a wrong number so of course he couldn't just tell him that he had the wrong number. He had to mess with the poor guy. If this isn't enough to prove that you should really double check who you're actually talking to, especially if you're unsure, I don't know what is. It went a little something like this. . .

Moral of the story? Bob lost his job and now spends his free time plotting to murder a high schooler who totally trolled him.

At least he has a nice picture of himself at work on his last day.

  2. You are kidding me, right? That poor dude didn't get fired for wrongful texting???

  3. I really hope that's not true. That would be terrible if that man lost his job because of your cousin's actions. I mean I get that it's funny and wrong text screen shots are one of my favorite things to read online but there is a time when messing with someone crosses the line, specifically when they are trying to do something important with their job. I think your Tinder post was hilarious and so are you but this one was a joke taken too far.

    2. I'll just clarify that it was not my cousin who did the texting. All he did was get the screen shots. It was some other kid that went to the same high school as him. And no one lost their job, that was me making a joke. I'm sure the guy was just angry he was being messed with when he found out.

  8. You should have a serious conversation with your cousin and his parents. This went so far beyond what is appropriate. Responding to a generic "hey man, what's up" text from an obvious wrong number for a response or two is one thing. Messing around with an employee of a company that clearly deals with expensive product is completely different. This man made a mistake (or several), but maybe this is his first time communicating with Tate on the phone. Maybe it is completely normal for that company to make quick decisions through text because of the nature of their industry.

Hopefully this post, or the result of it, was a joke, because I hate to think there's people that find this funny.

    1. It was not my cousin who did this. It was another student at the same high school. And the thing about him losing his job was me making a joke. And I'm sure the man responded the way he did because he was annoyed.

  10. I'd like to clarify that it wasn't Kylie's cousin that did the texting. She received the snap shots of the conversation from her cousin, who had received it from another student at the school. Yes, he knew who had the actual conversation but he wasn't the one who did any of this. Second, this is a pretty harmless joke. The student never allowed the texting to go far enough to allow any actual damage or cost of money to the company. Third, I am sure he did not lose his job, that was a joke from Kylie as well. Yes high school students don't always make the best of decisions but this is a great example of finding the humor in life. The man responded with the 70k mistake I am sure because he was annoyed that he was fooled by a high school student, not because it was actually going to cost them anything.
